Here is my routine to avoid and get rid of ingrown hairs,
1. Salt wash every other night. I boil hot water in the kettle, pour onto a face cloth and add sea salt. I let it sit on my skin until the cloth is cold. (I, Kristen, like to do the same thing but wet a cloth and put it in the microwave for 20-25 seconds so its steaming hot and reheat the wet cloth with salt on it a few times and hold it onto your skin)
2. Moisturize. In between the days I am salt washing, I moisturize with oatmeal based creams.
(One of my lovely clients shared with me that every time she washes her hair in the shower, she uses the leftover conditioner on her hoo-haa *as my niece likes to say* and let me tell you she has the best skin and hair when getting a brazilian)
3. DONT PICK. I try (really hard) not to pick any ingrowns unless I can see the hair and pull it through with tweezers. for the ones the are red and sore I use Apple Cider Vinegar (from no Frills, $1.00 for the bottle). I place the vinegar on a cotton ball and just add to the areas that are red. the apple cider dries out the pimple area fast like three days fast instead of waiting a painful two weeks for the hair to surface: This quickens the time to where you can pull the hair.
(I completely agree with this, don't pick/dig at your ingrown hairs, its a hair, not gold. lol
All of my clients that tend to pick a lot have a lot of ingrown hairs, I find my clients that leave it be, don't deal with as many ingrown hairs.)
4. No underwear. I dont wear it, anytime or anywhere. I try to not wear any underwear especially because the bikini line is the worst for ingrowns. I been going no underwear for about a year now and its drastic in the differences. If i do wear underwear it is all cotton with no steams around the edges so they dont dig into the bikini lines causing ingrowns.
(It's true, Let it breathe!)
There you go, hope this can be passed onto others who suffer from painful ingrowns.
Also i would like to thank you again for your wonderful services!!
Cassy
